As a Federal Account Director, you will play a key role in executing our U.S. federal market access strategy, with a primary focus on assigned Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) VISN and VA Hospital accounts, as well as supporting Department of Defense (DoD) ecosystems where applicable. This position requires expertise in the federal healthcare landscape, including VA/DoD reimbursement dynamics, formulary processes, Criteria for Use (CFU), utilization management, and stakeholder engagement, particularly for therapies requiring administration by healthcare professionals under the medical benefit. You will focus on optimizing access and appropriate utilization of Alnylam's HCP‑administered products by ensuring compliant application of the VA National Formulary and CFU at your assigned accounts. In collaboration with cross‑functional partners, you will educate site administrators, department chairs, and clinical influencers on the value proposition of Alnylam products for Veterans and service members. You will also support cross‑functional pull‑through efforts, contribute to federal access strategies, and provide insights to inform broader team initiatives. This role demands agility to navigate evolving policies, market conditions, and federal requirements while identifying opportunities to enhance product utilization. You will collaborate with internal teams, including sales, medical affairs, health economics, and strategic accounts, to align with Alnylam's commercial objectives and mission to deliver groundbreaking RNAi therapeutics to patients in federal systems. This is a field‑based remote position requiring up to 50-70% travel and reports to the Senior Director, Federal Accounts. Key Responsibilities Execute federal access strategies within assigned VISN and VA Hospital accounts to optimize patient access and appropriate utilization of Alnylam's portfolio. Ensure compliant application of the VA National Formulary and Criteria for Use (CFU) for Alnylam products at the site level. Partner with the cross‑functional team to ensure that critical education is delivered to key stakeholders including site administrators, department chairs, and healthcare professionals. This education includes: disease‑state education, clinical information, as well as administration requirements of Alnylam's therapies. Analyze account‑specific data, trends, and utilization metrics to identify opportunities for enhanced pull‑through and appropriate use. Collaborate with field sales, Regional Business Directors, and cross‑functional partners to implement pull‑through tactics and support sales performance in federal accounts. Contribute to the development and execution of account plans, sharing insights and best practices with the federal team. Support federal market development initiatives, including engagement with organizations such as the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS). Provide federal payer and account insights to market access, HEOR, patient services, and leadership teams to inform strategies and address gaps. Prioritize account activities to ensure consistent, compliant implementation of national formulary and CFU, addressing site‑specific needs for medical benefit therapies. Collaborate with internal experts (e.g., Medical Affairs, national contracting, and policy teams) to support access positioning and medical policy alignment. Deliver tailored education on the value proposition of Alnylam products, emphasizing benefits for patient populations served in federal settings. Review sales, utilization, and trend data to uncover pull‑through opportunities, developing tactics aligned with team KPIs. Work with field sales teams to execute pull‑through plans, providing training on federal payer dynamics, formulary processes, CFU requirements, and reimbursement for HCP‑administered therapies. Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company policies in stakeholder interactions and program execution. Contribute to team knowledge sharing by documenting best practices, participating in training, and supporting pilot programs or initiatives.
