JOB POSTINGField Engineering TechnicianOverviewUnder general supervision, this position supports utility asset management through field data collection and inspections, condition assessments and evaluations. Using specialized field tools and software, the incumbent gathers and verifies data for projects affecting distribution asset strategies. The role conducts structural loading analysis to evaluate compliance of proposed work impacting distribution assets, utilizing construction standards, design guidelines, and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) to ensure construction aligns with approved plans. The position assists with organizing, maintaining, and evaluating asset related data and ensures processes and procedures are followed in accordance with District asset management strategies.ResponsibilitiesPerform field data collection, verification, condition assessments, and inspections utilizing field data gathering tools to collect field data for pole line designs, proposed communication attachments and other utility asset management strategies.Use pole loading software to assist with modeling and analyzing utility poles based on field-collected data.Use a variety of tools to evaluate, analyze and document whether proposed distribution designs and applications for new communication attachments comply with required standards and codes, including the National Electric Safety Code.Organize and evaluate field and design data to support of distribution asset management strategies.Analyze collected field data to ensure construction of new distribution assets and communication attachments conform to approved designs.Utilize data management tools and follow established District procedures to ensure compliance with Distribution Asset management programs standards and requirements.Attend staff and safety meetings.Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
