Job Description
About We Reform NYC We Reform NYC is a civic reform effort focused on building a fairer, more competitive playing field in New York City elections — where ideas get heard, debated, and put to voters, rather than suppressed by entrenched political machinery. We are gearing up for a major signature collection push heading into November 2026, and we are hiring a team of paid Field Interns to lead the effort on the ground. What You'll Do As a Field Intern, you'll collect signatures from registered NYC voters in support of our petition. The work is outdoor, public-facing, and self-directed — you'll choose your own hours, your own spots, and your own pace. You'll report to our Point Person, who handles training, supervision, and day-to-day logistics. We'll teach you the script, the law, and the best techniques. The rest is up to you. How You Get Paid This is performance-based contractor work paid per verified signature. The more signatures you collect — and the more that get verified against the voter database — the more you earn. The pay tiers are: Tier 1: Signatures 1–2,500 at $0.50 per signature = $1,250 Tier 2: Signatures 2,501–5,000 at $0.75 per signature = $1,875 Tier 3: Signatures 5,001–7,500 at $1.25 per signature = $3,125 Bonus Tier 4: Signatures 7,501–10,000 at $1.50 per signature = $3,750 Maximum potential earnings: $10,000 for the term. Pay is issued on a bi-weekly cycle on verified signatures only. Signature verification typically takes 2–3 weeks against the New York State voter database. Why This Is a Great Gig Top performers can earn $30–$40+ per hour on an effective basis You set your own schedule — work when you want, where you want Real civic engagement experience — perfect for resume building, especially for students in political science, public policy, communications, journalism, or pre-law Direct mentorship from experienced political operatives A genuine seat at the table in one of the most consequential local election cycles in recent NYC history Who We're Looking For 18 years or older (17 considered only if pre-registered to vote in NY and with full parental consent) Registered to vote in New York State (any party — we don't care which one) Comfortable approaching strangers in public, holding a clipboard, and having short conversations about civic issues Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage your own time without daily supervision Honest — we have zero tolerance for fraudulent or made-up signatures, and any signature that fails verification doesn't pay Available to commit meaningful hours over the May 17 – August 24 window Logistics Independent contractor (1099); you are responsible for your own taxes All petition materials, training, and field guidance provided Onboarding requires: photo ID, completed W-9, and proof of NY voter registration Interviews conducted by Zoom and in person beginning shortly after applications open Ready to apply? Hit Apply on Indeed with your resume and a short note (a paragraph is fine) about why you want to be part of We Reform NYC. We'll be in touch to schedule a 20-minute interview.
