Job Description
Field Project Engineer Location: Hawaiʻi Department: Concrete Reports to: Project Manager Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Compensation: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 (Based on Experience) The Opportunity Alpha Inc. is looking for a Field Project Engineer who knows concrete work does not run on guesswork, excuses, or back-office theory. This is not a clipboard-only role. This is a boots-on-the-ground, details-matter, solve-it-before-it-becomes-a-problem kind of role. You will be in the field helping drive concrete operations forward — coordinating work, tracking production, supporting quality, solving issues in real time, and making sure crews, subcontractors, and project leadership stay aligned from pre-pour planning to closeout. If you can read the plans, anticipate the miss, communicate clearly, and keep work moving without losing sight of safety, quality, or accountability — keep reading. About Alpha Inc. Founded and grown in Hawaiʻi, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, renewable energy, concrete services, drilling, and infrastructure solutions. We build work that matters to island communities — and we do it with grit, precision, and pride. Everything We Do Is Grounded In Our Core Values Leading with Heart – We create a supportive and respectful environment where crews, subcontractors, and project teams can perform at their best. Strength in Unity – We believe strong communication and collaboration win jobs. Alpha Mentality – We bring excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement to every phase of the work. As Field Project Engineer, you will help bring those values to life in the field every day. What You Will Do As a Field Project Engineer, you will support the planning, coordination, execution, and documentation of concrete construction activities in the field. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, and support teams to help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in alignment with project plans and specifications. Support Field Execution Support field execution of concrete scopes including foundations, slabs, walls, footings, curbs, paving, structural concrete, and related activities. Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with planning and sequencing work to align with project schedules and production goals. Coordinate with survey/layout personnel, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to verify dimensions, elevations, embeds, anchor bolts, formwork, and placement requirements before pours. Drive Readiness and Coordination Participate in pre-pour planning meetings to confirm manpower, equipment, rebar, embeds, forms, access, safety controls, testing, and finishing requirements are in place. Support procurement and delivery coordination for concrete materials, reinforcing steel, embeds, forming systems, curing materials, and related items. Help identify and communicate field conflicts, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts to project leadership before they become production problems. Protect Quality and Production Track concrete quantities, placements, pour schedules, material needs, and production progress for reporting and forecasting. Monitor field activities for compliance with quality standards, approved plans, and project specifications. Assist with inspection readiness, punch list tracking, deficiency resolution, and as-built documentation tied to concrete operations. Own the Field Details Prepare and maintain daily reports, quantity logs, RFIs, field notes, photo documentation, and other records tied to concrete operations. Coordinate with testing agencies, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to support concrete sampling, cylinder testing, break reports, and quality documentation. Promote and uphold all company safety policies and jobsite requirements, participate in safety meetings, and reinforce safe work practices in the field. What You Bring You are organized, field-savvy, and hard to rattle. You do not wait around to be told what is broken. You see the issue, communicate it early, and help move the solution. Experience Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred. 2–4 years of experience in concrete construction, field engineering, project engineering, or commercial construction support roles prefer
