Job Description
Field Service Engineer II | Full-Time (Direct Hire) | On-Site in Orlando, Florida (hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office) We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer to join our client''s service organization, focusing on the heartbeat of power generation: gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators. This isn''t just a desk job—you’ll be the bridge between complex engineering design and real-world field performance. Travel is expected to be 20%-30% in the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean. In this role, you’ll own the resolution of field issues, moving beyond simple fixes to perform deep-dive root cause analysis. This intermediate-level role requires applied engineering knowledge and the ability to manage assignments with limited supervision while taking on increasingly complex technical responsibilities under senior guidance. Responsibilities include: Solve Complex Problems: Provide rapid technical support for field inspections and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs) and engineering requests (ESRs). Analyze & Improve: Lead 8D root cause analyses and use fleet data to recommend design changes that improve reliability and lower costs. Operational & Sales Support: Contribute to outage planning, fleet risk management, and service product development. You will also provide technical expertise to support sales initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Field Engagement: Participate in outages to document conditions, verify measurements against drawings, and direct corrective actions like clearance adjustments or welding procedures. Technical Documentation: Create clear work instructions, outage reports, and peer-reviewed engineering deliverables to ensure everything meets ISO 9001 standards. Global Coordination: Partner with long-term service teams and participate in evening sync calls with our engineering partners in Japan. What You Bring: The Foundation: A BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a specific academic focus on turbomachinery. The Experience: 3+ years in a design or service-related engineering role (or 12+ years of directly related engineering experience). The Technical Edge: A solid understanding of turbine configurations, material properties, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Communication Skills: The ability to write high-level technical reports and explain complex issues to anyone from field crews to executive clients. Tech Savvy: Proficiency in OSIsoft PI, SharePoint, and MS Office. Preferred experience includes PTC Suite (Creo, Windchill), MATLAB, Python, or C++. The Logistics As this is a service-focused role, you should be comfortable with occasional non-core hours to support field outages and align with our partners in Japan. We are unable to accept 3rd party candidates, transfer a visa, or provide sponsorship.
