Job Summary: We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant to support core accounting functions with an emphasis on retail, e-commerce, and cash management activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data, while supporting cross-functional operations and the monthly financial close process. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive reconciliations of bank accounts, cash activity, and general ledger balances; investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy and integrity Manage daily and periodic cash application activities, including matching receipts from retail, POS, and e-commerce transactions Reconcile retail deposits and ensure alignment between physical deposits, system records, and financial reporting Prepare and process customer credit memos in coordination with the Credit Manager, ensuring proper documentation and approvals Maintain accurate accounts receivable balances related to retail and online sales channels Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules Support month-end and year-end close processes through preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments Support Accounts Payable activities, including payment processing (check runs and EFT) and adherence to internal controls Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and compliant with internal policies and audit requirements Support sales tax reporting and compliance for retail and e-commerce transactions, as applicable Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing documentation and analysis as required Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within accounting workflows Partner cross-functionally with operations, procurement, sales, and other departments to support financial reporting and business needs Perform additional accounting and financial duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, e-commerce, or high-volume transaction environments Strong experience with account reconciliations, cash management, and general ledger processes Working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including lookups and data analysis functions) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Preferred Qualifications: Experience with retail POS systems and e-commerce platforms Background in manufacturing, distribution, or consumer goods industries Experience supporting audits and maintaining internal controls Familiarity with ERP systems (experience with Aptean M2M is a plus) Core Competencies: Accuracy and attention to detail Accountability and ownership Analytical thinking and problem-solving Organizational effectiveness and follow-through Collaboration and cross-functional partnership Continuous improvement mindset John Boos & Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer John Boos & Co. maintains a drug-free workplace.
