Description: Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote in Tysons Corner, VA Our client seeks a Financial Business Analyst to analyze and validate automated surveillance systems across multiple asset classes and regulatory domains. The role will reverse-engineer pattern logic, manage knowledge documentation, and lead UAT and release validation. The analyst will leverage generative AI to accelerate analysis, testing, and documentation while ensuring regulatory accuracy. The engagement is a contract position with hybrid work in Tysons Corner, VA. We can facilitate w2 and corp-to-corp consultants. Rate: $60.00 to $70.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities: Reverse-engineer surveillance pattern source code to document data pipelines, business rules, exception logic, and output schemas. Maintain a knowledge base of surveillance patterns across regulatory domains. Perform requirements-versus-code gap analysis to identify discrepancies and coverage risks. Validate new pattern releases by comparing production and UAT outputs and assessing exception and volume impacts. Build local testing environments and execute query scripts against sample data for independent verification. Design multi-scenario and edge-case test plans to ensure comprehensive coverage. Package release artifacts including scripts, QC results, and requirements documentation. Write complex queries to support investigations into surveillance exceptions. Produce firm-level statistical analyses and management reports. Maintain reference data sets used by downstream surveillance patterns. Assess data incident impacts using a surveillance dependency map. Develop automation tools for ticket management, release documentation, and workflow optimization. Build testing frameworks that replicate production environments for rapid iteration. Create data visualization and comparison reports with interactive summaries and differentials. Leverage AI coding assistants to reverse-engineer code, build documentation, generate tests, and produce comparison reports. Design structured AI workflows and maintain curated AI workspaces for consistent outputs. Coordinate multi-step analytical tasks through AI to accelerate delivery. Evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs for regulatory accuracy. Manage work on project tracking boards across enhancements, defects, and new development. Draft and update Business Requirements Documents for pattern enhancements. Coordinate release activities including documentation, QC, and UAT sign-off tracking. Participate in special projects and mentor less experienced analysts. Report trends in industry practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Champion adoption of AI-assisted workflows within the team. Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in financial regulatory technology, surveillance systems, or capital markets data analysis. Proficiency in SQL for large-scale analysis on distributed platforms. Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language for analysis, automation, and tool development. Experience interpreting complex data processing pipelines and business logic in source code. Strong analytical skills to investigate data discrepancies and validate system outputs. Excellent documentation skills translating technical implementations into business-facing documents. Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet tools for business and operational analysis. Major in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (preferred). Knowledge of SEC/FINRA regulatory rules and reporting requirements (preferred). Experience with distributed query engines and big data platforms (preferred). Experience with project management and documentation tools and their APIs (preferred). Familiarity with surveillance pattern architectures such as exception generation, scoring, aggregation, and reconciliation (preferred). Experience with source code management and release branch workflows (preferred). Experience using generative AI tools to accelerate analysis, comprehension, documentation, and automation (preferred). Ability to design effective AI prompts and structured project contexts for reliable outputs in regulated environments (preferred).
