– Equity Partner – Location: Remote (U.S.) Jurisdiction: Global Minimum Commitment: 20 hours per week Department: Finance Reports To: CFO / CEO This is not a back-office role At Anime Universe, finance is not about closing books. What You Put In Is What You Get Out This isn’t a traditional accounting role. This is financial architecture at company scale - systems, controls, operational visibility, and strategic infrastructure built from the ground up. As a Financial Controller, you’ll design and lead the financial operating foundation behind a next-generation entertainment company. You won’t just manage numbers. You’ll build the systems that make sustainable growth possible. Minimum commitment: 20 hours/week. This role requires presence, precision, and proactive motion. This is an equity partner role. That means: No upfront cash compensation Equity (shares) at principal creative contributor level (vesting standard) Future token-based rewards (pending legal clearance) Salary activates on revenue-based benchmarks Remote-first, async-native, and deeply autonomous Overview We are seeking a Financial Controller to design, build, and scale the company’s financial infrastructure, controls, and reporting systems . You will own Accounting integrity Financial reporting accuracy Internal controls Financial systems and processes Your work ensures: Leadership makes high-quality decisions The company is investor-ready The business scales with financial discipline What You’ll Own Financial Reporting & Close Process Build and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Deliver accurate, timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Ensure compliance with GAAP / IFRS (as applicable) Maintain audit-ready financial records Accounting Operations Oversee: Accounts payable / receivable, Revenue recognition, Expense tracking & Payroll coordination Ensure clean, consistent chart of accounts Implement scalable accounting workflows Financial Systems & Infrastructure Select and implement accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero) Integrate financial tools with operational systems Automate financial processes where possible Controls, Compliance & Risk Design and implement internal controls Prepare for SOC 2 / audit readiness Manage financial policies and governance Ensure tax compliance across jurisdictions Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning Support development of: Annual budgets, Rolling forecasts & Scenario models Track performance vs plan Provide variance analysis and insights Cash Flow & Capital Efficiency Monitor runway and burn rate Optimize working capital Support capital allocation decisions Cross-Functional Partnership Work closely with: CEO / CFO (strategy & capital planning), Operations (cost control & efficiency) & Product / Engineering (resource planning) What We’re Looking For 7-10+ years in accounting / finance roles Strong foundation in: Financial reporting Accounting operations Internal controls Experience owning or supporting close processes Familiarity with GAAP (or IFRS) Experience with accounting systems and tools Nice-to-Have Startup or high-growth company experience Experience preparing for audits or SOC 2 Exposure to SaaS, platform, or creator economy business models CPA / CA or equivalent certification Experience with multi-entity or international operations What Success Looks Like Financials are accurate, timely, and trusted Monthly close complete
