Job Title: Financial Secretary (Part-Time) Location: Almelund, MN 55012 Job Type: Part-Time Pay: $20–$28 per hour Job Description: Immanuel Lutheran Church and First Evangelical Lutheran Church are two congregations in the St. Croix River Valley sharing ministry together, and we're hiring a part-time Financial Secretary to support the financial operations of both. This is a position of real responsibility and real trust — about 4 to 8 hours per week, year-round, with flexibility in how and when the work gets done. What you'll do: Maintain checkbooks and financial records for both congregations, including general funds, benevolence funds, bequests, endowments, and special donations Process payroll for shared ministry staff in coordination with our payroll company Write and record checks, make electronic payments, and coordinate with authorized signers at both locations Reconcile monthly bank statements and resolve discrepancies with treasurers Prepare monthly financial reports for two church councils Assist Finance Committees with budget preparation and year-round line-item tracking Track shared ministry cost allocations and monthly reimbursements between congregations What we're looking for: Background in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration Proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, and/or church management software (we use Realm at ILC) Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Excellent written and verbal communication Strict confidentiality is essential — any breach is grounds for immediate dismissal Compensation and structure: $22/hr recommended; range $20–$28 based on experience Supervised by the Pastor and Church Council Presidents Annual performance review Payroll managed through ILC as fiscal agent This is a behind-the-scenes role that keeps two communities running.
