Job Description
Finishing Operator Under the direction of the supervisor, the Finishing Operator sets up and operates various simple machine tools and hand power tools as assigned to deburr and/or finish machined gears, shafts and related parts to meet company quality standards. Includes the following, other duties may be assigned. Following established procedures, use various hand tools such as files, burring knifes, and brushes to remove burrs, excess metal, surface imperfections, and any other noted imperfections. Read machining instructions or routing sheets and follow oral instructions to set up burring machines. Operating sequence and necessary tools are provided. Operate burring lathe, sand blaster, parts washer, wire brush, burring machines and rounder as assigned; make standard adjustments as needed. Engrave and stamp part numbers on gears, shafts and related parts. Use micrometers and various precision measuring equipment to set up and check work. Examine and feel surface of work piece for defects. Notify a supervisor or lead person of any deviations in product quality from prior operations. Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for parts completed. Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
