JOB Performs a wide variety of tasks to support department fiscal operations; performs other duties as assigned.The hiring salary for this position is $55,910 - $73,299 annually; full salary range for this position is $55,910 - $96,179 annually. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES This position processes County-wide payroll within payroll policy, compliance, and technical standards. Review and process the timely payroll related information, including assurance of accurate time and leave reporting information for payroll payments, deductions, retirement, and ensure accurate changes and updates to payroll records.Maintain employee records to ensure accurate calculations and deductions for health, retirement, taxes and other benefits.Submit system generated IRS form W2s, state unemployment, retirement reports, federal social security tax, and IRS form 1099Rs for local retirees using various computer media.Partner with HR personnel to ensure responsive resolution of employee payroll issues/inquiries.Support payroll process enhancements and address systems reporting issues, both technological and internal processes, and assist HR in developing new procedures to make payroll/HR processes more efficient.Remain current with County policy, payroll laws (i.e., FLSA, FMLA), tax and benefit issues.Provide reports as required by auditors, government agencies and senior management.Maintain files and other records to support financial transactions and work performed; payments for wage garnishments, child support, reimbursements, credit union, savings bonds and all payroll-related deductions and adjustments.This position is required to work collaboratively as part of the payroll team.Perform other duties as assigned.May: Prepare various monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for county, state, and federal government agencies.Generate data for preparation of trial balances, general ledgers and maintain various double entry records. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Associate’s degree.Three years or more of job related experience.Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.Additional Requirements: Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;Must pass a pre-employment drug test.Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls.
