We are actively hiring outgoing individuals who are competitive, friendly and engaging to help us drive sales and deliver an exceptional customer experience.As a Pet Specialist you will be responsible for educating our customers and matching the right pet with the right customer and meeting the needs of both.Responsibilities:Position Overview The Fish Department Specialist is responsible for maintaining healthy, clean, and visually appealing aquariums while providing knowledgeable, friendly assistance to customers.This role focuses on animal care, aquarium maintenance, and education to support responsible fish ownership.Responsibilities Maintain freshwater and/or saltwater aquariums, ensuring proper water quality and fish health Perform routine water testing, water changes, and tank cleaning Monitor fish daily for signs of stress or illness and follow proper care procedures Safely acclimate new fish and aquatic animals Clean and maintain filters, heaters, pumps, lighting, and other aquarium equipment Maintain accurate care and maintenance records Assist customers with fish selection, tank setup, compatibility, and ongoing care Recommend appropriate products and supplies to meet customer needs Follow all company policies and animal welfare standards Qualifications Basic knowledge of aquarium care, fish species, and water chemistry Ability to recognize common fish health issues and stress behaviors Previous experience in aquatics, pet care, retail, or aquarium hobby preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare Friendly, reliable, and customer-focused attitude Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50 lbs Comfortable working in wet environments and performing hands-on maintenance Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout shifts Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Job Type:Part-time Pay:From $17.00 per hour Application Question(s):This position requires availability for shifts between 9:00 a.m.and 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m.and 8:30 p.m., and on Sundays from 10:00 a.m.to 6:30 p.m.; please confirm which of these time frames you are available to work and which days of the week you are available.This position REQUIRES knowledge of fishkeeping and aquatic animal care, as well as the ability to assist customers in maintaining healthy aquatic environments.Please describe your experience, knowledge, or training related to caring for fish and other aquatic species.Work Location:In person.
