OVERVIEW OF LA VETTA La Vetta, a new Italian dining destination from Southern Cross Hospitality, is seeking passionate hospitality professionals to join the team as we prepare to open this spring in downtown Savannah. The kitchen is led by a chef who earned a star in the Michelin Guide Italy 2023. The dining experience will be dramatic, intimate and dynamic. To support this, we are building a team that is polished without being stiff, and precise without losing warmth. From the kitchen to the dining room and bar, every team member plays a vital role for our guests coming through the door of La Vetta. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE Reports to the General Manager. As the maître d’ you run the room. You own the door, the pace, and the floor standard every night. This is hands on leadership. You set the tone on arrival, protect rhythm through service, and foster team collaboration to create a consistent experience for our guests. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead guest arrivals with confidence and calm control Manage seating strategy, accurate quoting, and clear guest communication Run Resy with discipline, including notes, preferences, VIPs, and celebrations Protect pacing for a two to two and a half hour dining experience Communicate timing cleanly to captains, servers, and the kitchen Hold floor standards for language, posture, table maintenance, and station readiness Lead pre-shift, make corrections during service, and ensure follow-through after service Handle guest recovery with urgency, sound judgment, and closure so issues do not repeat WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Proven floor leadership in standards-driven dining Strong instincts for pacing, door control, and reading the room Resy fluency preferred Warm, authoritative, composed, and genuine in all guest-facing communication Food Handler’s Certification or the ability to obtain in accordance with federal, state, or local regulations and/or Company policy. Certification for responsible alcohol service or ability to obtain within 6 months.
