Job Description EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate degree in engineering technology or a closely related field, or completion of a formalized Electrical/Electronic training or apprenticeship program is required.A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in train control maintenance required. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of signaling principles and practices of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way (AREMA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Must also possess experience working in or knowledge of a labor union environment.Directly related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in-lieu of educational or formalized training. INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas.These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments. Summary Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all ATC (Automatic Train Control) equipment is properly maintained in accordance with MARTA requirements. Gives input on the operating and capital budget program, budget forecasting and oversight, production planning and measurement, staffing, and material control. Plans and schedules support work involving other branches of Facilities and Maintenance of Way that interface with ATC. Serves as a representative for the General Foreman, Engineer or Manager as needed. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree. This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assigns work and supervises employees who perform a variety of automatic train control maintenance activities. Responds daily to customer service requests. Ensures preventive and predictive maintenance work is completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner within established policies, procedures, and timelines and frequently provides direct technical assistance. Instructs personnel in proper and safe performance of work, frequently providing direct technical assistance. Ensures all personnel are familiar with work processes, procedures, and safety requirements. Using the Computerized Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS), plans, monitors, evaluates and develops employee performance to maximize employees' potential and maintain a high-performance work environment. Evaluates work processes to ensure that all planned work is accomplished within established guidelines and procedures.Verifies all test results of safety critical equipment is properly documented and approved in the MMIS. Maintains up-to-date records on computerized time and attendance system and Computerized Maintenance Management Information System. Encourages perfect attendance for all team members. Counsels’ employees on codes of conduct/standards of excellence and issues verbal and written feedback, when necessary, in accordance with MARTA's policies and union guidelines. Conducts inspections and verifies discrepancies. Prepares all required maintenance reports in accordance with Facilities and Maintenance of Way departmental protocol and Automatic Train Control branch requirements. Coordinates work activities to utilize relevant technologies to deliver continuous quality service, process improvements, and cost controls. Ensures that all maintenance is performed in accordance with Facilities and Maintenance of Way departmental protocol and Automatic Train Control branch requirements. Recommends changes in maintenance programs. Schedules equipment for maintenance checks and removal from service. Maintains inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment. Maintains work orders and ensures that enough materials are on hand to complete work efficiently. Notifies appropriate personnel when remaining stock falls below established levels. Uses purchasing system to request parts and tools required to perform maintenance.May coordinate/expedite purchase of services and equipment with vendors and assists in monitoring external contractors' quality and contractual compliance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for the administration and supervision of ATC maintenance activities, including coordinating and directing the maintenance work program and crews. CE
