Job Description
RCHSD Chadwick Center is a fully accredit hospital-based children's advocacy center (CAC), a child-friendly place that provides family-focused and trauma-informed services to help children and families heal from abuse and other trauma. Within the Chadwick Center, Forensic and Medical Services (FMS) provides forensic interviews, medical exams, advocacy services and short-term therapy for children. Our multidisciplinary team (MDT), also known as the Child Protection Team (CPT), includes caring and trained professionals from law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, family advocacy and other CAC staff and community partners. We provide specialized services to help children and families heal from abuse and trauma by providing a coordinated, compassionate MDT response. Forensic Interviews are conducted by professionals who have special training and experience in talking with children. The Forensic Interviewer’s goal is to gather factual, comprehensive information that will help investigating agencies (Law Enforcement, Child Welfare Services, etc.) determine next steps in the investigation. Forensic Interviews are scheduled at the request of the investigating agency and are conducted in a child-friendly interview room. All forensic interviews are recorded and are observed by the members of the MDT in a separate room. This ensures that children don’t have to share their stories multiple times. Bilingual in English and Spanish required for this position. Job Summary Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Forensic and Medical Services, the Forensic InterviewSpecialist is responsible for conducting legally defensible, developmentally sensitive, and nonbiased forensic interviews with children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities. The interviewer uses a national, research-based model and is one part of a larger multidisciplinary investigative process. This position requires a well-developed knowledge of the issues and dynamics of child abuse and trauma. The interviewer will provide crisis intervention, as well as follow-up services, when needed. The interviewer will participate in multidisciplinary collaboration and casereview. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 5 Years of Experience CA Driver's License Proof of Auto Insurance BA + 5 years of experience in the field of child abuse and multidisciplinary investigation 2 years of pediatric professional experience Must demonstrate cultural humility in working with a range of individuals of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, cultures and other aspects of diversity Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree MA + 2 years of experience Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Thorough knowledge of the dynamics and effects of child maltreatment and domestic violence Completed certified training on forensic interviewing Knowledge of county systems and procedures and community resources The current salary range for this position is $37.63 to $51.75 Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable. The range listed above does not represent the full salary range for the position but is the expected hiring range for qualified candidates.
