Founding Boston Director, Ineffable Films About the role Ineffable Films is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the tagline "Stories that Travel," empowering emerging and underserved filmmakers through mentorship, festival access, education, and community screenings. We've built strong volunteer and program bases in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York. Boston is the next chapter, and we're looking for someone to help us write it. The Founding Boston Director will be the first face of Ineffable Films in New England. You'll build our volunteer base from the ground up, forge partnerships with the city's incredible film, education, and cultural institutions, and eventually help us secure a physical home in Boston. This is a builder's role. You won't be inheriting a playbook, you'll be shaping one. What you'll do Build and steward a Boston volunteer community of filmmakers, students, mentors, and supporters, modeled on what we've grown in our other cities but rooted in Boston's own culture and rhythm. Establish partnerships with local film organizations, universities, theaters, festivals, and community groups. Think Emerson, BU, Northeastern, the Brattle, Coolidge Corner, IFFBoston, Roxbury International Film Festival, ArtsBoston, GlobeDocs, MIT Open Doc Lab, and the many neighborhood organizations that don't always get film-world attention. Bring our existing programs to Boston audiences, including Global Lens Film Series screenings, Festival Wings mentorship, Write Yourself In, and the East Coast West Coast Film Challenge. Scout and help secure office or screening space in Boston, working closely with leadership on what makes sense for our budget and growth stage. Represent Ineffable Films at local events, on panels, and in community spaces, becoming a known and trusted name in Boston's film and nonprofit ecosystems. Coordinate with our team leads across programs, ops, partnerships, and marketing so Boston grows in lockstep with the rest of the organization. Who you are You're from Boston or the surrounding area, or you've put down deep enough roots that the city feels like yours. You know its neighborhoods, its institutions, and its people. When you say "I know someone," you usually mean it. You care about film, storytelling, and giving emerging voices a real shot. You don't need to be a filmmaker yourself, but you should believe that who gets to tell stories matters. You're comfortable in the founder zone, where roles aren't perfectly defined and the work is part strategy, part hustle, part relationship building. You're energized rather than overwhelmed by ambiguity. You're a connector by nature. You're the person at the party who introduces two strangers and walks away knowing they'll end up working together.
