Job Description
Tasks We're looking for a freelance producer to help develop and execute a series of original live formats for Tara Palmeri — one of the most prominent independent political journalists working today, with a loyal, highly engaged audience across YouTube and Substack. This is not a standard live show producer role. The formats you'll be producing are investigative and debate-driven — they require real research, editorial judgment, and comfort operating in a live environment where things don't follow a script. You'll be working directly with Tara, our team, and an associate producer to bring these formats from concept to air. The right person for this role is sharp, resourceful, and genuinely interested in politics and accountability journalism. You're not just running an existing show: you're helping build something that doesn't exist yet. Requirements Research & Pre-Production Conducting deep investigative research for each episode: public records, financial disclosures, archived interviews, court filings, and open-source intelligence Building guest research dossiers and briefing documents that arm the host with specific, sourced material — not background summaries, but receipts Surfacing contradictions, blind spots, and unexplored angles Coordinating guest logistics once bookings are confirmed Live Production Running live production via StreamYard, including managing on-screen elements, audience participation features, and guest transitions Directing the technical flow of the show so the host can focus entirely on the journalism Assisting in the management of any interactivity Staying calm and making smart calls in unpredictable, unscripted live environments Post-Production & Distribution Identifying the strongest clip-worthy moments during the live broadcast — you should know what the clips are before the show ends Extracting and editing clips for same-day turnaround (60–90 second social cuts, 10–15 minute segment clips) Basic editing proficiency in Premiere, CapCut, or equivalent
