Job Description: Our family practice office, centrally located in Austin is seeking a very reliable, energetic candidate to apply. We are seeking a full-time front office receptionist, a candidate that prides themselves on service by greeting, directing, instructing and assisting patients to assure efficient patient flow. Along with being able to ensure demographic information is complete and accurate. Utilize the appropriate insurance codes, and be knowledgeable of financial classes when checking in patients. Practice HIPAA-compliant rules and regulations. This position would also assist with other clerical duties along with being able to perform medical assistant duties when needed and assigned. The work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 am-4 pm. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Appropriately acknowledge the patient’s arrival and departure. Obtain new patient information and enter incorrectly. Verify demographics upon admission to include the correct address, phone number, insurance information, and emergency contact number. Obtain appropriate paperwork/signatures from the patient at each visit. Refer patient to business office when flagged. Schedule, coordinate and re-schedule appointments according to departmental guidelines. as needed. Collect co-pays and payments, issuing a receipt. Reconcile money drawer and credit card machine. Remind patients of appointments per office protocol. Compile daily reports and forwards to Billing Coordinator. Become familiar with insurance procedures and managed care plans. Plans requiring referrals and/or preauthorization Recall the hospital/clinic patients Respond promptly to calls according to departmental guidelines. Verify benefits and patient financial responsibility. Initiate appropriate resolution for all patient issues. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in other assigned duties as designated by the Practice Operations Manager WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work performed in an office and clinic setting. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work environment presents exposure to virus, disease, and infection. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas: Must be able to read and write the English language in a legible and understandable manner. Must possess basic computer skills. Elation is our electronic medical records. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, insurance companies and personnel. Must be knowledgeable of medical practices and procedures, insurance plans.
