EXAMPLE OF DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE THEATER INSTRUCTOR: Teach a variety of theater arts classes, including Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Acting, Theater History, Theater Appreciation, Voice, Movement and other classes as assignedDirect full-stage, one-act, and musical theater productionsParticipate in the production management for the department’s theatrical seasonRecruit students into the theater departmentPromote the completion of theater arts degrees and certificatesPromote the theater program and its productions on and off campusParticipate with faculty in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes – and use the results to improve teaching and learningParticipate in the evaluation, revision and development of the curriculumPROFESSIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and the vision required to include current trends in the teaching and production of theaterAbility to use technology and social mediaCommitment to creating equity and serving underrepresented community college studentsAbility to adapt varying pedagogical approaches to meet the needs of a diverse student population, including, but not limited to, Latinos/as/x, African-Americans, veterans, students with disabilities, and foster youthExperience with Student Learning Outcomes and assessment methodsOutstanding interpersonal skills and a desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and other members of the campus communityAbility to work in a multi-ethnic environment with students of varying academic preparation and learning stylesDemonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, and ethnic backgrounds of community college studentsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience and proficiency in current teaching and learning technologies SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION THE ASSIGNMENT: Ten Months, 100% - Tenure-track position beginning August 2026.Thirty-four (34) hours per week consisting of a combination of in-class teaching and preparation for teaching; five and one half (5.5) hours of additional time for student conferences; and five and one half (5.5) hours for professional growth and development, College governance and other professional responsibilities. The College has two 16-week semesters and offers a full range of courses beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 11:00 p.m. Faculty must be available to teach anytime within those hours.
