Full-Time Water Operator I Or Water Laborer The Village of Hebron is seeking a Fulltime Water Operator I or Water Laborer within the Village's Water Department.Water Laborer Hourly Pay Range:based on qualifications, education, and experience.Water Laborer / Operator-in-Training:$19.85 - $24.81 per hour.Reports to:Water Superintendent. May take direction from Assistant Water Superintendent in absence of the Superintendent or as delegated by the Superintendent. General Description:This is a full-time position that may be required to work overtime, evenings, weekends, or on call when needed.This position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Water Distribution System and Facilities.Job Functions:Assist in the repair and maintenance of plant equipment and the water system.Performs custodial duties in all Water facilities.Helps with all types of inspections, including, but not limited to new taps and connections.There are times of heavy lifting, working on elevated platforms/walkways, confined spaces, and general housekeeping and groundskeeping duties.Minor equipment maintenance.Maintain an accurate daily logbook of completed assignments, duties, and documented maintenance.This position also performs other tasks assigned by the Water Superintendent, Assistant Water Superintendent or Senior Water Operator l.Skills:The Water Laborer should have good oral and written communication skills.Good organizational skills regarding prioritizing tasks and record keeping.Should be able to exercise sound judgement within areas of responsibility.Should have general knowledge of standard principles in mathematics and chemistry.Abilities:The Water Laborer should be able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other departments, the general public, vendors, contractors, OUPS, and various government agencies/officials in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential functions of this position.Requirements:Valid Ohio Driver's License.Driving record must qualify for coverage with Village insurance carrier's underwriting requirements.The Village of Hebron is an equal opportunity employer.Position Title:Water Operator I Pay Range:$22.24 - $27.80 per hour (based on qualifications, education, experience, and Ohio EPA certification level) Reports To:Water Superintendent (or Assistant Water Superintendent in their absence) Job Overview:Assist the Water Superintendent in operating and maintaining the village's drinking water system.Ensure safe, continuous, and regulatory-compliant water supply.Serve as a backup operator in charge when needed.Work mandatory overtime on rotating weekends, holidays, evenings, or on-call.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and adjust water treatment processes, chemical feed equipment, and laboratory testing.Maintain logs, records, and reports for daily operations and regulatory compliance.Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for equipment, valves, hydrants, and water meters.Conduct routine sampling, inspections, and locate water lines and leaks.Operate maintenance vehicles and equipment (e.g., backhoe, dump truck, generators).Attend training, meetings, and seminars as required.Ensure workplace safety and handle customer service inquiries professionally.Skills & Knowledge:Understanding of water treatment processes, chemistry, hydraulics, and equipment.Proficiency in computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).Ability to read and interpret regulations, engineering plans, and technical documents.Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Requirements:Experience:At least 1 year in water treatment plant and distribution system operations/maintenance or equivalent training/experience.Education:High school diploma or GED.Certifications:Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record.Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Operator Certification.Ohio EPA Water Laboratory Wet Chemistry Full-Certification.Physical Demands:Work in challenging environments (e.g., hazardous areas, adverse weather, confined spaces).Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, climbing, digging, and walking long distances.Other Requirements:Self-motivated, able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Pass a BCI background check and pre-employment drug screening.Equal Opportunity Employer:The Village of Hebron welcomes all qualified applicants.The Village of Hebron offers an attractive benefits package including:Health, Dental, Vision, & Life Insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, all paid 100% by the Village of Hebron.-Paid Vacation, 12 paid holidays and sick leave -Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) -Deferred Compensation (optional) This job posting will remain open until filled.recblid mrovdgylxqi4t0wczbnm094moirqo2.
