Role Summary The Service Engineering team within Commercial Technology at Rivian builds software to support the post-sales servicing needs of our customers’ vehicles. Our applications are used by customers and service centers to provide a world class service experience. As Rivian’s customer base grows, the Service Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Full Stack Software Engineer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, is obsessed with providing the best experience for our customers, motivated by learning and holds themselves to high engineering standards. Responsibilities Implement and maintain robust, scalable, and maintainable backend micro services and frontend applications using NodeJS, NestJS and React with TypeScript. Create and maintain RESTful APIs, ensuring efficient data exchange between various components of our system. Leverage AWS cloud technologies, like Lambda/EKS/SQS/SNS/Messaging bus to build and deploy backend services. Utilize DynamoDB, ElasticSearch and other NoSQL / SQL databases for storage requirements. Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of services. Implement message queuing services like AWS SQS for real-time data processing and event-driven architecture. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and continuously improve the backend for speed, scalability, and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality solutions. Write unit & integration tests and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability. Create and maintain technical documentation for code, APIs, and systems. Support on-call rotations as needed for production systems Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 3+ years of professional software development experience. Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS and RESTful API development. Experience with AWS cloud technologies, particularly Lambda functions. Hands-on experience with DynamoDB and ElasticSearch Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Be able to work with different team members and be a true self learner. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with messaging systems like AWS SQS. GQL and Apollo utilisation: Implement and expose GQL endpoints, utilizing Apollo Studio for schema management. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $116,300 - $145,300 for California based applicants and $$97,700 - $122,100 for Illinois & Georgia based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
