About the Role The Gardener is responsible for maintaining ornamental containers, the surrounding landscape and indoor plants, as well as holiday flower arranging and holiday decorating. Morning availability is required; some gardening tasks need to be completed before the restaurant is open at 11am. This role consists of mostly solo work – it is very important that you enjoy working alone, can reliably self-motivate, and communicate effectively with the Landscape Manager. Principal Duties: Ornamental Container Planting & Maintenance: Annual and perennial plant identification, planting, pest and disease identification, hand watering, fertilizing, grooming and deadheading. Landscape Maintenance: Ornamental plant identification, weeding, planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, IPM, hand watering, minor irrigation repairs and maintenance, communicating with contractors when needed, keeping hardscape and parking lot tidy. Indoor Plant Maintenance: Watering, grooming, fertilizing, and replacing plants when needed. Holiday Flower Arrangements & Holiday Decorating: Table flower arrangements for various holidays, and interior decorating for both Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Communication: Consistent and reliable communication with your manager. Including regular phone check-ins. Skill Sets for Success: Passion for horticulture! Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff. Able to manage time effectively, set priorities, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Eye for detail and design. Willingness to learn. Position Requirements: Able to lift 40lbs Able to crouch, kneel and twist Able to drive a car, have a clean driving record, valid Washington driver’s license and car insurance. Hours and Days of Work: Slow season (Dec-April): 8-12 hours/week Busy season (May-Nov): 18-25 hours/week Days of the week worked depend on the weather, season, and volume of work. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required Horticulture degree, certificate, OR relevant job experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate!) Benefits & Salary $25-$28 per hour DOE Full time employees maintaining an average of 25 hours a week have an option to enroll in medical insurance and an HSA account while those who maintain 20 hours can choose to enroll in dental, vision, voluntary life, and pet Insurance. Employees are enrolled in the company’s 401k plan with an annual discretionary match after one year of employment.
