Job Description EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required. Six years of progressively responsible experience in train control maintenance, with at least four years at the supervisory level. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of signaling principles and practices of the American Association of Railroads and Federal Transit Administration. Must possess a thorough knowledge of current labor agreement and work rules. In lieu of a degree, directly related ATC supervisory experience as described may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas.These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments. Summary Responsible for the administration of Automatic Train Control (ATC) maintenance activities, including coordinating and directing the maintenance work program, safety, training, documentation, and personnel scheduling programs. Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all ATC equipment has been properly maintained in accordance with current signaling practices. Works with Management staff in developing the operating and capital budget program, budget forecasting and oversight, production planning and measurement, staffing, and material control. Plans and schedules support work involving ATC work and other branches of Facilities Maintenance that interface with ATC. Serves as the replacement for the Manager when required. Required to respond and assume command during emergencies or major incidents on a twenty-four-hour basis. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree. This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for the administration of Automatic Train Control (ATC) maintenance activities. Supervises all ATC Foremen and Planners. Implements and promotes safety/training programs including coordinating and directing training and conducting safety meetings. Works closely with management staff in the development and administration of the budgetary process. Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all ATC equipment has been properly maintained in accordance with current signaling practices.Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee may be required to climb ladders, carry test equipment weighing 100 lbs. or less for short distances (100 yards). You must also walk long distances (over one mile) in outdoor conditions, in all types of weather. Must be able to operate an automobile or light truck. Must be able to utilize a standard personal computer keyboard on a regular basis.
