Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate General Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our El Camino Health Medical Network team. The General Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive cardiovascular care in collaboration with cardiologists and the interdisciplinary care team. The NP is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care in an outpatient and/or inpatient cardiology setting.Essential ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including detailed history and physical examinationsEvaluate and manage patients with conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and valvular heart diseaseOrder and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitors, cardiac imaging, and laboratory studiesDevelop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising cardiologistsProvide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and preventive cardiologyParticipate in hospital rounds (if applicable) and coordinate care transitionsPerform in-office procedures within scope of practiceCollaborate with primary care providers and specialists to ensure coordinated cardiovascular careParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to cardiology clinical protocolsQualificationsEducation:Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner programLicensure & Certification:Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practiceNational board certification (FNP, AGNP, or ACNP)Current DEA registrationBLS and ACLS certification requiredExperience:Prior cardiology experience strongly preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology and treatment guidelinesAbility to interpret cardiac diagnostics including EKGs and common imaging reportsProficiency in managing chronic cardiac conditions and medication titrationExcellent patient education and counseling skillsStrong collaboration and communication skillsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environmentFamiliarity with value-based care and quality metrics in cardiologyAs a member of our team, you will have the opportunity for a rewarding career filled with positive patient experiences and continual professional growth and development as well as a balanced personal family life.
