Must have and maintain a CT Driver's License and clean driving record Work history in one or more of the construction or building maintenance trades. Experience operating equipment and conducting snow removal with heavy-duty (non-CDL) trucks and accessories. REPORTS TO: Associate Director Facilities Infrastructure JOB GOAL:The General Maintainer position is a multi-functional role encompassing all aspects of building and grounds maintenance, repair, and improvements. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Repairs building systems and components and maintains building maintenance equipment. Operates snowplowing and sanding equipment, as well other landscape construction equipment safe and efficient manner. Operates Commercial Landscaping equipment to mow, maintain and upkeep school grounds Prep and maintain school sports fields included but not limited to, baseball, softball, soccer and football fields. Works independently on a regular basis with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks expediently and with a high degree of quality/workmanship Receives after-hours calls when building issues arise and responds to issues as directed. Updates ADFI, building occupants, and management staff regarding status of building issues. Performs repairs and minor renovations to both interior and exterior of buildings. Plans and executes reconfigurations and furniture moves. Utilizes technology devices and platforms to manage work orders and inspections. Responsible for ensuring facilities are properly secured and free of public safety hazards. Participates in building safety discussions and training drills. Assists other departmental staff as required to solve problems and meet team goals. Performs similar or related work as required, directed, or as situation dictates. Performs a variety of daily and routine maintenance, repair, and construction activities in the East Hartford Public Schools' building portfolio. Including but not limited to: carpentry, flooring, lock repairs, landscaping and landscaping construction, sheetrock repair, painting, hardware repair/replacement, material handling, and ceiling grid modifications. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position. Salary and work year per contract with Local 1933. Physical Demands: Very Heavy Working Conditions: Both inside and outside.
