Home Kim Group, Inc.
Job Description
About Home Kim Group Home Kim Group, Inc. is a full-service siding and exterior subcontractor with nearly four decades of history serving Northern Virginia and Maryland. Founded in 1987 and family-operated, the company installs fiber cement (Hardie and all major brands), vinyl, and LP SmartSide for production and custom home builders across a regional footprint stretching from Fredericksburg and Charlottesville in the south to Frederick County and the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the north. The company's core strength is full-service execution — we supply materials and labor and stand behind our work with warranty support. Our client base includes national and regional production builders as well as custom home builders, with a tight, experienced team of office and field personnel who have built long-tenured relationships in this trade. The Opportunity We are looking for a General Manager to take ownership of day-to-day business operations and serve as the operational leader of our company. This is a senior hire with real accountability — you will be the internal center of gravity that keeps the business running and growing. This is a leadership role, not a coordinator position. You will manage experienced people, make independent decisions, build the internal systems this business needs to scale, and be accountable for operational outcomes. The right candidate doesn't need to know more about siding than the team — they need to know how to lead people who do. What You’ll OwnTeam Leadership Directly manage the operations coordinator, three field managers/job site superintendents, and office staff — a team with significant combined tenure and deep trade knowledge. Create structure, accountability, and clear lines of authority without disrupting a team that already performs well. Recruit, evaluate, and develop staff as the business evolves. Manage and maintain relationships with 1099 subcontractor installer crews, including performance expectations, scheduling, and dispute resolution. Operations & Scheduling Own the production schedule across all active job sites, coordinating crews, material deliveries, and inspections. Serve as the internal escalation point for field issues, subcontractor conflicts, and job site complications. Ensure jobs run on time and on budget, and that field managers have what they need to execute. Oversee warranty and service work scheduling alongside new construction activity. Process & Systems Identify operational gaps and build repeatable processes — scheduling, communication, onboarding, reporting, and quality control. Reduce the owner's involvement in day-to-day operational decisions by creating structure that allows the team to function autonomously. Work alongside the estimator and accounting team to ensure operational data flows clearly between the field and the office. Office Oversight Oversee the office team's day-to-day function, ensuring coordination between estimating, accounting, operations, and field management. Maintain clear internal communication protocols so the owner stays informed on key decisions without being required to manage routine operations. Assist with vendor and supplier relationships as needed in coordination with the owner. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of operations management experience, ideally in construction, subcontracting, field services, or a trades-adjacent industry. Demonstrated ability to manage experienced, tenured teams — people who know their craft and need a leader, not a micromanager. Strong organizational instincts — you build systems, not just solve problems. Independent decision-maker who is comfortable with ambiguity and doesn’t wait to be told what to do. Clear communicator, both with field personnel and with ownership. Proficiency with scheduling, project management, or operational software; experience in construction management platforms a plus. Experience with 1099 subcontractor management is a significant advantage. No siding or exterior trade knowledge required (but preferred) — but intellectual curiosity about how the business works is essential.
