Extensive travel may be required Apply online at : https://scitechinc.com/opportunities/ The Government Shipbuilding Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between government agencies and shipbuilding organizations. This role ensures effective communication, coordination, and compliance throughout all phases of ship construction, modernization, and maintenance programs. The liaison supports program execution by aligning government requirements with shipyard capabilities, schedules, and contractual obligations. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary interface between government stakeholders (e.g., Navy, Coast Guard, maritime authorities) and shipbuilding or repair facilities. Coordinate technical, contractual, and operational communication to ensure program alignment and timely issue resolution. Monitor shipbuilding and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with government specifications, standards, and regulations. Support acquisition and program management efforts by providing shipyard status updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics. Facilitate design reviews, production meetings, inspections, trials, and acceptance processes. Assist in resolving schedule, cost, quality, and technical issues between government and shipyard teams. Review and support contract modifications, change requests, and technical documentation. Ensure adherence to safety, security, and environmental requirements. Maintain accurate records, reports, and correspondence related to shipbuilding programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, naval architecture, maritime studies, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, naval programs, or government acquisition environments. Strong understanding of ship construction processes, systems integration, and lifecycle management. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts. Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with government procurement regulations and compliance standards. Prior experience working directly with government maritime agencies. Background in naval engineering, program management, or quality assurance. Experience with large-scale shipbuilding or defense acquisition programs. Active or eligible for DOD security clearance. Skills and Competencies Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. Professional judgment when handling sensitive or proprietary information. Proficiency with standard office and project management tools. Work Environment Combination of office, shipyard, and waterfront environments. Periodic travel to shipyards, government facilities, and program sites. May require access to secure or restricted areas.
