Job Description
Full or Part-time $22-$24/HR Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) Position Summary A Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) is a recent nursing program graduate who is awaiting licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the GPN provides basic nursing care and supports patient treatment plans in healthcare settings Key Responsibilities Provide basic patient care , including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) Assist with wound care and simple medical procedures Administer medications only as permitted under supervision and state guidelines Monitor patient conditions and report changes to supervising RN Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Support infection control and safety protocols Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs) Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members Supervision Works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse Cannot practice independently until fully licensed as an LPN GPNs are welcome! Requirements Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program Eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam Current CPR/BLS certification (often required) Skills & Competencies Basic clinical and patient care skills Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision Compassion and patient-centered care approach Pay range GPN: ~$22-$24/hour After licensure rate will increase Career Progression Pass NCLEX-PN Become LPN Gain experience specialize or move into higher-paying roles Option to pursue RN (Associate or BSN)
