Innovation and technology drive every program and transform the fundamentals of what future engineers are learning. http://www.seas.upenn.edu/ Under the general direction of the Director of Research Services, Post Award serve as a post award grants manager in Engineering Post-Award Research Services, in support of a portfolio of SEAS PIs, responsible for the financial reporting of grant awards including oversight of award budgeting, oversight of the subcontracting process. Manage funds, reporting and expenditure rates, meet individually with faculty to manage expenditure projections and maintain client experience/customer service consistency. Approve and oversee subcontracts expenditures, allocate payroll for PI and research group members including PhD students' payroll, tuition in grad funding, payroll for post-docs. Advise PIs of allowability issues for planned expenditures. Oversee close-out processes and respond to audit questions involving research expenditures. In support of Research Services leadership, help develop and establish research services post award policies and expectations for both the internal research services team and SEAS faculty and staff. Provide support and decision-making authority when needed in all areas of Post Award research services responsibilities, compliance and reporting, Effort Reporting. Provide ad hoc reporting as needed, in response to sponsor requests, School requests. Oversee and manage PIs' unrestricted funds, including start-up funding, research discretionary and gift funds. Job Description Job Responsibilities Meet regularly with PIs to ensure initiation and completion of Grant/Award set-ups from inception through close-out for a widely diverse group of sponsors/funding agencies. Advise PIs on management of budgets and complete final review of documents in preparation for close-out. Monitor and enforce compliance with subcontract management, sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance. Ensure that expenses are managed consistently with individual sponsor requirements for forms, formats, policies and regulations for specific proposal and program types, as well as specific funding opportunity announcement specifications. In support of PIs' research, manage award status communications to PIs and Post-Award team noting any special reporting or billing requirements. Oversee Federal and sponsor reporting and projections as needed. Oversee PIs' unrestricted funds including start-ups, discretionary funding, gift funding, summer programs, etc. Identify, advise directors and execute process changes to promote efficiency within the Post-Award service area. Support and enable initiatives for process improvement. Support other Research Services roles & responsibilities as necessary. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of post award grants management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
