Job Summary Join our dynamic Grounds Crew as a vital team member dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the beauty, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces. In this energetic role, you will perform a variety of landscaping, lawn care, and maintenance tasks to ensure our grounds are pristine and inviting. The Grounds Crew Member plays a key role in maintaining the Club’s world-class tennis facilities. This position is responsible for the daily upkeep of Har-Tru, Hydro, Hard, and grass courts to ensure optimal playing conditions. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to quality and safety. Responsibilities Perform daily Har-Tru and Hydro Court maintenance, including brushing, line sweeping, rolling, and watering Monitor and manage court moisture levels using a moisture meter Repair and level court surfaces; fill low spots and maintain consistent clay depth Maintain court lines, net posts, and straps; adjust net height as needed Use a Clegg Hammer to test court hardness and ensure proper ball bounce Assist with grass court maintenance, including mowing and fertilization, verti-cutting, moisture testing, and rolling and line painting (using a Swozi GPS Line Painting Machine) Support snow plowing operations during winter months to keep pathways safe and accessible Perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety Requirements & Preferred Skills Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, excavators, and small construction equipment safely and efficiently Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with a proactive attitude toward safety and quality standards Work Environment Outdoor, physically active role requiring early morning start times Part-time position Increased workload during peak tennis season (May through mid-October) Compensation, Benefits & Schedule Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience) Expected Hours: 15-30 hours per week Shifts Available: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM, Monday-Sunday Benefits include: Paid time off Uniforms provided Overtime opportunities Comprehensive benefits package (based on experience and role) This role at the West Side Tennis Club is ideal for motivated individuals looking to develop their skills in landscaping, horticulture, construction support, or groundskeeping.
