Company OverviewJoining House of Hope means becoming part of an organization dedicated to transforming lives within our community.Our team works passionately to provide essential resources, support, and opportunities for lasting stability to neighbors facing hunger and hardship.We believe in creating meaningful change through compassion, teamwork, and dedicated service.JOB Summary:As Growing Hope Farm Manager, you will oversee the growing operations and management of staff and volunteers, in a high-volume multi-complex of hydroponic greenhouses, traditional in-ground locations, and an industrial produce washing and packing facility.You will ensure efficient and safe operations, provide and guide immersive volunteer experiences, increase public engagement, and safeguard our non-profit brand.You will provide outstanding service standards; recognize/coach staff behaviors; provide training; and manage the business, while maintaining connection to the rich history and heritage of the House of Hope organization in a non-profit environment.Responsibilities: Oversee growing activities through CEA, hydroponic, aeroponic and horticultural methods. Identify and prevent potential viral & fungal plant diseases, insect and pest pressure, outside contamination and remediation through Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Help plan and facilitate group volunteer projects and events with HOH staff. Schedule, plan, & train volunteers and staff for meaningful activities such as - harvest, pruning, irrigation, group projects, routine maintenance, construction projects, and social engagement. Improve efficiencies, identify potential improvements, and proactively implement strategies and processes to enhance growing methods, packaging, sales and distribution of value added products. Coordinate clerical, record-keeping, inventory, requisitioning, sales, marketing, and customer service activities. Analyze data to inform operational decisions, estimates, budgets, and procurement of materials and supplies. Oversee the operations of the Packing House, which includes the washing and packaging of fruits & vegetables for distribution to retail markets, HOH pantries and partners. Manage and schedule local growers using the facility and supervise the production process. Train staff and volunteers to operate machinery, dryers, sealers, and other packaging equipment as well as all farm equipment and vehicles. Routinely inspect the condition and functionality of the facilities and equipment. Delegate or perform manual service, maintenance and cleaning tasks. Explain and enforce safety regulations, food safety protocols and HOH policies to staff and volunteers. Act as an ambassador for House of Hope, attend meetings and serve on committees as assigned. Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed. Attend training as requested. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:1.EDUCATION/Experience:Associate's degree required or equivalent horticulture experience with a High School Diploma or GED.At least 4 years of CEA, commercial hydroponics, production packaging and supervisory experience required.2.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES You must be highly proficient in: Effective communication and socially confident leadership. Knowledgeable in CEA horticulture and production techniques.
