Job Description
**Guitar Amp / Pedal Technician Downtown San Jose, CA The Void Guitar Service and Repairs The Void is looking for a Guitar Amp / Pedal Technician to help expand our services into amplifier and effects pedal repair. Based inside Guitar Wars in Downtown San Jose, The Void operates as an independent repair and creative workshop specializing in guitar and bass repair, modifications, setups, restorations, and custom work. As the shop continues to grow, we are looking to add someone with electronics experience who can help us build out a dedicated amp and pedal repair department. We are looking for somebody who enjoys problem solving, working hands on with music gear, and helping musicians keep their rigs running properly. This is an opportunity to help shape and grow a new side of the business from the ground up within an already established music community.** Responsibilities **- Diagnose and repair guitar amplifiers, pedals, and related electronics Perform maintenance, modifications, and custom wiring work Troubleshoot signal chain, grounding, and noise issues Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly with customers Maintain organized workflow and repair documentation Assist with custom electronics and future shop projects when needed** Preferred Qualifications **- Experience servicing tube amplifiers, solid state amplifiers, and analog/digital effects pedals Ability to diagnose component-level failures including capacitors, resistors, potentiometers, jacks, switches, transformers, and transistors Strong understanding of amplifier signal flow, gain stages, grounding, and power supply sections Experience biasing tube amplifiers and safely discharging filter capacitors Ability to read schematics, layout diagrams, and PCB traces for troubleshooting and repair Proficient soldering and desoldering skills on through-hole and PCB mounted components Familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, continuity testing, and audio probing methods Experience troubleshooting noise, oscillation, grounding, shielding, and intermittent signal issues Familiarity with common amplifier and pedal platforms including Fender, Marshall, Mesa/Boogie, Vox, Orange, Peavey, Boss, MXR, Electro-Harmonix, Ibanez, and boutique circuits Experience with pedal modifications, true bypass switching, jack replacement, power supply troubleshooting, and custom wiring is a plus** What We Value **- Attention to detail Reliability and professionalism Honest communication with customers Curiosity and willingness to learn A genuine passion for gear and music culture To apply, please send: Resume or relevant work history Photos/examples of previous repair work Portfolio, social media, or demo content if available Email: thevoidguitars@gmail.com **
