Job Description
Capital Landscapes is seeking an experienced and motivated Hardscape Foreman to lead hardscape installation crews throughout Metro Detroit. This position is responsible for overseeing the installation of patios, retaining walls, walkways, steps, outdoor living spaces, drainage systems, and related landscape construction projects while maintaining high-quality workmanship, job site efficiency, and professionalism. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hands-on hardscape experience who can manage crews, operate equipment, read layouts, and ensure projects are completed properly from excavation through final cleanup. Responsibilities Lead and manage hardscape crews on a daily basis Oversee installation of: Paver patios Retaining walls Walkways and steps Outdoor living areas Drainage systems Grading and base preparation Read and understand layouts, measurements, elevations, and project plans Ensure proper excavation depths, base compaction, grading, and installation standards Operate equipment including skid steers, mini skids, excavators, compactors, saws, and trucks/trailers Coordinate materials, deliveries, and daily workflow on site Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites Ensure crews follow company quality standards and safety procedures Communicate daily with management regarding progress, delays, change orders, and material needs Take before, during, and after project photos as required Perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance Train and develop crew members Requirements: Prior hardscape foreman or landscape construction experience required Strong knowledge of paver and retaining wall installation Ability to read grades, elevations, and layouts Experience operating landscape construction equipment Valid driver’s license required Chauffeur’s license preferred or ability to obtain Ability to tow trailers safely Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor daily Reliable attendance and transportation required Preferred Experience: Unilock, Techo-Bloc, Fendt, or similar hardscape systems Drainage installation Outdoor lighting Irrigation coordination Concrete or masonry experience Reading landscape designs and construction drawings Compensation & Benefits: Competitive pay based on experience Performance and growth opportunities Potential year-round work including snow operations and winter projects Leadership role within a fast-growing company About Capital Landscapes: Capital Landscapes is a fast-growing full-service landscape company based in Metro Detroit specializing in landscape construction, hardscaping, drainage, irrigation, maintenance, and snow management.
