The World Fellowship Center is hiring a head cook. Spend your summer working at a social justice-focused retreat center in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. The World Fellowship Center ( http://www.worldfellowship.org ) was originally founded in 1941 by an interfaith movement with a bold vision for peace and justice. Over the years, we have grown into a secular organization, still committed to social justice. As the head cook, you will be overseeing the preparation of 3 meals for up to 150 guests and staff each day. Meals are served buffet or family style in a dining hall, a place where guests go to relax and connect with old friends and new. Meals are mostly vegetarian and vegan, with gluten free options. Key Responsibilities Prepare (or supervise the preparation) of breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day Provide input into a two-week menu rotation and the ordering of ingredients Adapt to different dietary needs, such as vegan, gluten free, and allergies Work with our garden team to use organic vegetables and herbs, grown on site Prepare meals (and some baked goods) from scratch Train and supervise other cooks, kitchen, and dining hall staff Benefits: Weekly salary of 800-1000/week Free room and board: single room with shared bathroom, same meals as guests, access to laundry machines and soap, occasional transportation to town Option to enjoy WFC programming in your off time: Saturday concerts, kayaking on Whitton Pond, hiking nearby trails, and participating in social justice workshops Our ideal candidate meets some or all of these criteria: Commitment to social justice Experience with vegan cooking and cooking from scratch in a commercial setting Enthusiasm for working with a wide variety of people Commitment to cleanliness in the kitchen, ServeSafe certified is a plus This position is in-person and runs from roughly June 15-August 31.
