Job Description
ABOUT US Nestled on 160 acres of working farmland in Ellicott City, Maryland, the Inn at Mary's Land Farm is more than a place to sleep — it's an invitation to reconnect with the rhythm of nature. Our 1835 farmhouse, extensively renovated in 2021, offers five intimate guest rooms and suites surrounded by pastures, orchards, pollinator patches, and nearly 80 acres of mature woodland. We follow beyond-organic, regenerative farming practices, and education is at the heart of everything we do. Guests enjoy farm-fresh breakfasts cooked from scratch, farm immersion programs, animal encounters, farm-to-table cooking classes, and a vibrant Farm Store stocked with our own pasture-raised meats, fresh produce, eggs, and Secolari artisan olive oils and vinegars. We've been called "the best farmstay ever" by guests who return again and again. We are at an exciting inflection point. Mary's Land Farm is actively growing into a premier destination — expanding into weddings and private events, launching seasonal festivals celebrating our sunflower and lavender harvests, and welcoming everyone from Howard County neighbors to international travelers. This is a rare opportunity to join a beloved farm and help shape what comes next. THE ROLE We're looking for an Inn Manager who is equal parts gracious host, capable leader, and enthusiastic farm ambassador. You'll oversee day-to-day inn operations, lead a small team of innkeepers, and play a hands-on role in delivering the memorable, farm-rooted experiences our guests love. Critically, we're seeking someone who wants to grow with us — someone excited to help build something special as we expand our events offerings, seasonal programming, and our reputation as a destination unlike any other in the mid-Atlantic. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Guest Experience & Farm Hospitality Welcome guests warmly and personally; handle check-ins, check-outs, escalations, and special requests with grace and care. Serve as a knowledgeable farm ambassador — introduce guests to our animals, story, products, and regenerative mission. Coordinate farm-to-table meals, cooking classes, farm immersion programs, and customized experiences that make each stay unforgettable. Respond to online reviews and maintain our reputation across booking platforms and travel sites. Team Leadership Lead and supervise a team of 3–6 innkeepers (varying by season); recruit, onboard, coach, and conduct performance reviews. Make day-to-day hiring and scheduling decisions in coordination with ownership. Build a team culture that reflects our values: warmth, curiosity, sustainability, and genuine hospitality. Schedule staff coverage to ensure seamless operations seven days a week. Reservations & Revenue Management Manage online reservations, OTA listings (Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, etc.), and room pricing strategy. Optimize occupancy through smart pricing, packages, and partnerships. Maintain accuracy and responsiveness across all booking channels. Events & Programming Growth Play a key role in building out our weddings and private events program — coordinating with couples, families, and corporate clients. Help plan and execute seasonal festivals including our Sunflower and Lavender harvest celebrations. Develop and coordinate luncheons, team outings, farm dinners, and partnership programming that drive bookings and deepen guest value. Work closely with owners to ideate and pilot new experiences that broaden our reach from local community to destination travelers. Property & Operations Enforce cleanliness and room standards consistent with our 5-star reputation by performing and overseeing daily housekeeping and laundry. Coordinate maintenance and outside contractors for property upkeep; perform or arrange basic repairs as needed. Manage inventory and purchasing for guest rooms, breakfast service, and general supplies; approve purchases within delegated authority. Maintain basic financial records, oversee POS and cash handling, and report operational metrics and cost savings to owners. Ensure ongoing compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required Meaningful hospitality experience; prior work in a B&B, inn, boutique hotel, or guesthouse strongly preferred but not required. Genuine passion for farm life, local food, sustainability, and authentic hospitality. Proven supervisory and people-management skills; ability to hire, develop, and inspire a small team. Comfort with reservation systems and OTAs, POS systems, and basic operational bookkeeping preferred. Proficiency with digital tools including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and booking/property management platforms. Excellent communication, problem-solving,
