Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the implementation, planning and coordination of multiple health care service programs administered directly by the Head Start Program. Work involves the administration of the Community Preventive Health Care Programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: · Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the activities of several health service programs, which offer a wide variety of health care services to the indigent residents of the parish. · Utilize resourcefulness and tact in meeting and dealing with new health care problems. · Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, subordinates, and the general public contacted during the performance of assigned work. · Comprehend Head Start standards and initiate program functions. · Plan, implement, and coordinate health and mental health service and activities for children and families. · Provide a written plan for health and mental content areas and implement the plan. · Maintain a Health, Mental Health, Education, Nutrition Advisory Committee (HMHENAC) with parent involvement, which meets at least twice yearly. · Monitor and evaluate the Health content area, to assure optimum levels of service, cost control and budget adherence. · Contract providers needed to obtain necessary health and mental health services for children, parents, and staff. · Prepare and submit required reports that are factual and accurate, in a timely manner. · Assist in linking families to an ongoing health care system. · Assist families in assuming the primary responsibility for their own health care. · Identify and utilize state and local resources for the health program. · Participate in training sessions to keep abreast of the state of affairs in the health field. · Willing to train staff on the proper administering of medication to students · Conduct annal CPR training for staff · Conduct hearing evaluation for Head Start and Early Head Start Students · Preform any other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree/Certificate in health related field from an accredited College/University/Trade School, with a minimum of three years experience in related field. Detailed computer knowledge.
