Job Description
Position Title: Head Start Teaching Assistant Reports To: Education Supervisor / Director of Operations Classification: Full Time / Part Year / Non-Exempt Status: Hourly Range: $14.50 - $17.00 per hour Required Education and Experience: Must meet the Head Start requirements, including a minimum of a Child Development Associate Credentials, awarded by the Council of Professional Development and have 480 hours of childcare experience. Pass pre-employment physical, TB test. Be certified in Infant/Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid. Summary/Objective: The Head Start Teaching Assistant completes the listed tasks. All tasks are considered essential except those identified as non-essential. Essential Functions Assisting the Teacher in the development and implementation of classroom lesson plans and classroom management. Assisting the teacher in implementing daily group and individual activities so that the children are provided with opportunities to enhance their development. Assisting the Teaching with the children's screenings and assessments. Assists in preparing and serving meals daily, cleaning up as needed after meal service. Assists with diapering. Assists teacher with classroom set-up and clean-up. Ensures safety and emergency procedures are followed. Attends all scheduled staff meetings for position held. Ensures compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations. Completes documentation as required. Conducts a self-evaluation and works consistently to improve own job performance & develops individual professional development goals annually. Communicates regularly and works cooperatively with all staff. Always maintains confidentiality. Respects and promotes the unique identity of each child and family, and refrains from stereotyping based on gender, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, or disability. Ensures compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Executive Director
