Job Description: Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine and complex histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist. The histologic techniques include the following: fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and Special Stains) of human tissue for evaluation. This includes complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program. o Unless currently working as a Histotechnician in an approved clinical laboratory or HT certified (ASCP or equivalent), the education received from a NAACLS accredited HT program is acceptable for a period of five years from the date of completion of that program.
