Host — Land & Lake Cafe ($15–$18/hr, 20–30 hrs/week) The short version: We need a host who can run a busy door, keep the vibe warm, and actually talk to humans. $15–$18/hr, flexible shifts that fit around class or a second gig, and a real path to server or bartender if you want one. No experience? Cool — bring the energy and we'll teach you the rest. The shifts Daily: 6:30am–2:00pm 15-25 hours/week Weekend availability is a must — that's our busiest service Who we are Land & Lake Cafe is a neighborhood café in Evanston — warm atmosphere, great food, and a morning crowd that depends on us to start their day right. The menu is fresh, local, and seasonal, and priced so people actually come back. We get busy. We like it that way. What you'll actually do You're the first face guests see and the last one they remember. That means: Run the door: greet, seat, and set the tone Manage reservations, waitlist, and server section rotation (Toast and OpenTable) Answer phones without sounding like a robot Take carry-out orders, enter into POS accurately, handle cash Know the menu cold — including allergens — and make real recommendations Rotate seating fairly so the servers don't hate you Jump in on sidework (folding, stocking, cleaning) because that's how teams win Back up your teammates whenever and wherever What we're offering $15–$18/hr based on experience Flexible scheduling that actually works with school, a side hustle, or a second job 20–30 hours/week with room to pick up more if you want them Staff meals and dining perks A real growth path — hosts here move up to server, bartender, and management.
