Hotel Housekeeper Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and orderly environment in guest rooms and public areas.This role ensures brand standards are met while delivering a high level of guest satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Room Cleaning Clean and service assigned guest rooms daily according to hotel standards Make beds, change linens, and replace towels Dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitize all surfaces Clean bathrooms including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and showers Replenish guest amenities (toiletries, coffee, cups, etc.) Inspect rooms for maintenance issues and report promptly Public Area Maintenance Clean hallways, elevators, stairwells, and common areas Maintain cleanliness of lobby, restrooms, and back-of-house areas as assigned Quality & Compliance Follow brand standards (e.g., IHG Hotels & Resorts Way of Clean or equivalent) Adhere to safety, sanitation, and chemical handling procedures Ensure carts and closets are fully stocked, clean, and organized daily Do not enter unassigned or occupied rooms without proper authorization Guest Interaction Greet guests courteously when encountered Respond promptly to guest requests or notify supervisor Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Daily Operational Duties Stock housekeeping cart with required supplies before shift Complete assigned rooms within productivity standards Remove trash and dirty linens from rooms and hallways Turn in lost and found items per hotel procedure Report room status updates (clean, dirty, out of order) accurately Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods Lift up to 25-50 lbs regularly Push/pull housekeeping carts and equipment Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and kneeling Qualifications Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred but not required Strong attention to detail and time management Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays Work Environment Fast-paced hospitality setting Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE required) Indoor work with frequent room-to-room movement Performance Expectations Meet daily room quotas/productivity targets Maintain cleanliness scores aligned with guest satisfaction metrics (e.g., Medallia/Guest Love) Follow all hotel policies and procedures consistently Reporting Structure Reports to:Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping Supervisor Works closely with:Front Desk, Maintenance, and Management Team Work Location:In person.
