Prep Cook / AM Food Prep – Hotel Food & Beverage Operations LOCATION : Aloft Sunnyvale | 170 S Sunnyvale Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 SCHEDULE: Part-Time | Morning / AM Shift | Weekends & Holidays May Be Required PAY : Starting $21 per hour BENEFITS : Employee hotel discounts, paid sick leave, career development opportunities, training programs, and more. SUMMARY : Seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated Prep Cook / AM Food Prep team member to support our hotel food & beverage operations. This role is responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen organization, supporting food production, and ensuring all food preparation and sanitation standards are consistently met. This position is ideal for hospitality and culinary professionals who enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and take pride in preparing quality food while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY : Prepare ingredients and food items according to recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards. Set up and stock kitchen prep stations with ingredients, supplies, and equipment needed for service. Chop vegetables, prepare sauces, portion ingredients, and assist with food preparation for menu items. Support kitchen operations by assisting cooks and culinary team members during food preparation and service. Plate prepared food items according to company and brand presentation standards. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout kitchen, prep, storage, and work areas. Wash dishes, kitchen utensils, cookware, and food preparation equipment throughout the shift. Restock kitchen inventory, food supplies, and prep items as needed. Follow all food safety procedures, sanitation standards, and health department regulations. Properly store food products and maintain temperature and labeling standards. Assist with receiving deliveries, rotating inventory, and organizing storage areas when needed. Maintain a safe and professional kitchen environment while supporting overall hotel food & beverage operations. WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED : Minimum 1 year of prep cook, line cook, restaurant, hotel kitchen, resort, or food service experience required. Strong understanding of food preparation methods, kitchen procedures, and knife handling skills. Ability to work with speed, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and food presentation guidelines consistently. Positive attitude with strong teamwork, communication, and reliability. Knowledge of food safety procedures, sanitation practices, and kitchen hygiene standards required. ServSafe Certification preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary education or training is a plus. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professionalism required. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift; Able to frequently bend, reach, stoop, lift, carry, push, or pull kitchen supplies, food products, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation; Able to safely use kitchen equipment, knives, ovens, slicers, and other food preparation tools; Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and refrigeration areas.
