Job Description
Cargill, a global leader in food products, agriculture, financial, and industrial offerings, is seeking an AEI Technician to support our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management team within our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be a key technical resource responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the automation, electrical, and instrumentation systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient production. Working on the plant floor and in control rooms, you will help ensure that our equipment and processes operate at peak performance, directly contributing to Cargill’s mission of advancing global food security and sustainability. As an AEI Technician, you will perform hands-on work on production and utility assets, including control systems, sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives, and related power and control circuits. You will diagnose and resolve equipment issues by interpreting electrical and instrumentation schematics, using PLC diagnostics and test equipment, and working closely with operations and engineering colleagues. You will execute both corrective and preventive maintenance activities, documenting your work in our asset management and maintenance systems to support long-term reliability and compliant recordkeeping. You will collaborate daily with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to identify improvement opportunities, support equipment upgrades, and participate in new system installations and commissioning. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to unplanned downtime events. Within Cargill’s culture of integrity, safety, and inclusive growth, you will be expected to adhere to all safety policies, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and process safety procedures, and to model safe behaviors for others. Cargill fosters an environment of continuous learning and innovation, encouraging employees to think independently and explore better ways of working. As an AEI Technician, you will contribute ideas that enhance equipment reliability, process stability, product quality, and energy efficiency. You may participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects, helping to standardize best practices and implement sustainable technical solutions. Over time, you will have the opportunity to expand your expertise in automation, controls, and asset management through exposure to diverse systems and ongoing training. This position is best suited for a technician with industrial experience who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and working hands-on in a manufacturing environment. In return, Cargill offers a stable, mission-driven workplace where you can grow your career while helping to provide essential food products to communities around the world. You will be supported by comprehensive benefits, professional development opportunities, and a team culture that values safety, respect, and continuous improvement.
