SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Human Resources Intern, under direct supervision of the HR Manager or Human Resources Director, provides administrative and project support for daily HR operations within a contract sheet metal manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment activities, onboarding, compliance administration, policy administration, employee relations support, employee engagement initiatives, and HR-related projects. This position offers hands-on exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources while supporting initiatives that promote employee engagement, compliance, productivity, and retention. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assists with recruiting activities including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications. Supports talent pipeline initiatives through participation in school partnerships, career fairs, community outreach, and workforce development programs. Assists with onboarding processes including preparation of new hire paperwork, orientation materials, and employee documentation. Maintains employee records and assists with data entry and recordkeeping within HRIS and personnel filing systems. Supports compliance efforts by maintaining required employment documentation including I-9s, training records, and policy acknowledgements. Assists with administration and distribution of company policies, procedures, and employee communications. Responds to routine employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and onboarding processes. Assists with employee engagement activities, recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and company events. Provides administrative support for employee relations activities including documentation, meeting coordination, and follow-up communication. Assists HR team with audits, reporting, and special HR projects related to workforce planning, training, retention, and process improvement initiatives. Supports coordination of employee training activities and tracks completion of required training programs. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information. Assists with organization and maintenance of HR files, records retention, and departmental documentation. Supports HR staff with miscellaneous administrative duties and other related responsibilities as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous office, administrative, internship, or customer service experience preferred. SCOPE: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
