General Description: The Director of HR Operations is responsible for overseeing the day to day execution of Human Resources operations across the organization, with a strong focus on employee relations, compliance, risk management, and operational consistency. This role serves as a strategic HR partner to leadership by supporting operational goals, mitigating risk, and improving overall HR effectiveness across the organization. The position partners closely with leadership and managers to ensure HR policies, procedures, and employee practices are applied consistently and in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. This position serves as the primary lead for employee relations, investigations, leaves of absence, policy administration, and workforce compliance within a highly regulated healthcare environment. The role is operationally focused and supports organizational effectiveness through strong process management, documentation, and manager coaching. This is a hybrid position requiring full time in office attendance during the first 90 days for onboarding and training. Following that period, the role will work onsite three days per week, including Mondays and Wednesdays in the Arlington Heights office and one additional day at a branch location. Main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Oversee day to day HR operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IDOA, IDPH, DHS-ORS, VA) Oversee benefits administration including open enrollment, employee support, and vendor coordination Manage and support HR administrative staff, including HR Coordinators and hiring coordination functions Partner with leadership to improve HR processes, operational consistency, workforce planning, and compliance initiatives Lead employee relations matters including investigations, coaching, disciplinary actions, corrective action processes, and terminations Administer and oversee FMLA, ADA accommodations, leaves of absence, and wage and hour compliance Maintain and enforce HR policies, SOPs, employee handbook updates, and compliance documentation practices Coach and support managers in handling employee issues, performance concerns, and policy application consistently Oversee post hire employee lifecycle administration and compliance processes for caregivers and allied staff Manage unemployment and workers’ compensation claims, including documentation and reporting Lead HR audits, reporting, compliance reviews, and documentation readiness efforts Maintain HR systems, employee records, organizational charts, and related documentation Monitor HR metrics including turnover, compliance trends, employee relations activity, and audit findings Serve as the escalation point for complex HR operational matters Work Experience Requirements/Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s preferred PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred Minimum of 7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within healthcare, home health, or other highly regulated environments Strong knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, leave administration, and compliance requirements Demonstrated experience handling investigations, performance management, and sensitive employee matters Experience developing and maintaining HR processes, documentation, and operational workflows Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills Ability to balance compliance, operational needs, and employee experience in a fast paced environment Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS/payroll systems strongly preferred Salary Range: $115,000 – $125,000 annually Benefits: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions Paid time off, including vacation and sick leave Additional sick leave benefits in accordance with local regulations Employer-paid Workers’ Compensation coverage Pre-tax commuter benefits to support your daily travel In accordance with Illinois law, we may use artificial intel
