Job Description
Job Title: Human Resources Generalist (payroll focus) Location: Bartlett, IL Hire Type: Direct-hire, Onsite Target Salary: $80,000/year Benefits: PTO, paid holidays, medical/dental/vision plans, 401(k) Must-Have Skills: 3+ years of experience in HR with direct payroll processing responsibility Hands-on experience managing payroll data, timekeeping systems, and employee records Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive/confidential information Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS/payroll systems Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization Job Summary: This role serves as a key member of the HR team, supporting a wide range of human resources functions with a primary emphasis on payroll administration. The HR Generalist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting benefits administration, and assisting with employee relations and compliance-related activities. Job Duties: Process payroll on a recurring basis, ensuring accuracy of hours worked, deductions, and adjustments Review and validate timekeeping data, including resolving missing or incorrect punches with supervisors Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax forms, direct deposits, and status changes Partner with external staffing vendors to reconcile billing and labor-related data Assist with administration of employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations Support monthly benefits reconciliation and address employee inquiries related to coverage Generate and distribute payroll and labor-related reports for internal stakeholders Maintain employee personnel files and ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures to employees and supervisors Assist with attendance tracking and support corrective action processes as needed Participate in employee relations matters, including investigations and issue resolution Support workplace safety initiatives and workers’ compensation activities Assist with internal events and employee engagement efforts Perform additional HR and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered 3–5 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on payroll and/or HR operations Solid understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and general HR practices Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (any platform; ADP experience a plus) Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow-up skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Professional communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.) is a plus Experience in a manufacturing or operations environment is a plus Bilingual skills are a plus
