Job Description
Our client at StevenDouglas is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in the Hudson, New Hampshire area to support the HR operations of our client across a multi-site, multi-state environment. This role will serve as a key partner to employees and managers, supporting day-to-day HR operations with a strong focus on employee relations, leave of absence administration, HR compliance, and HR systems support. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting employees across Northeast states, including knowledge of state-specific leave programs and employment practices, while thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment that requires adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently. Position Summary The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations across a multi-site, multi-state environment. This role serves as a key partner to employees and managers by supporting employee relations, leave administration, HR compliance, HR systems, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. This position requires someone who can work independently, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, and appropriately escalate complex employee matters when needed. Key Responsibilities: Employee Relations & HR Support Support managers and employees with day-to-day HR questions, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters Assist with workplace investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and employee concerns Maintain consistent and compliant HR practices across multiple locations Partner with leadership to support employee engagement and workplace culture initiatives Leave of Absence Administration Administer and track employee leave of absences, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, paid family leave, disability, and other state-mandated leave programs Coordinate with employees, managers, payroll, and third-party administrators regarding leave eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work processes Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, particularly within Northeast states Compliance & HR Operations Support HR compliance efforts related to wage and hour laws, onboarding, employee documentation, and policy administration Assist with HR transactions, employee data updates, reporting, and HR process improvements Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS system Support onboarding, offboarding, and other core HR operational processes HR Systems & Reporting Utilize HRIS systems to process employee transactions, maintain data integrity, and support reporting needs Assist employees and managers with HR self-service functionality and system-related questions Participate in HR process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies Qualifications 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience Multi-site and multi-state HR experience, ideally supporting operations in the Northeast including Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire Demonstrated experience managing leave of absences (LOAs), including knowledge of state-mandated paid family and medical leave programs Employee relations experience, including exposure to workplace investigations and sensitive employee matters Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately escalate issues Self-sufficient and able to work autonomously while partnering closely with leadership on complex matters Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving business environment Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and communication styles Foundational understanding of Northeast labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and state-specific employment practices
