Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The successful applicant will teach the Career Based Intervention program at Shawnee High School, a satellite of Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center. Qualifications Include But Not Limited To The applicant must have or be willing and able to obtain an Ohio teacher's license or certificate appropriate for the assignment. Applicants are not required to have a current teaching license at the time of application if they have the following experience listed below. If hired, the district will assist in the licensure process. High school diploma and 5 years of related work experience; - OR two-year high school career-tech program in related area and 4 years related work experience; - OR associate's degree in content area and 3 years of related work experience; - OR baccalaureate/master's degree in content area and 2 years of related work experience. A record free of criminal violation that would prohibit public school employment. Must pass a BCI/FBI background check. Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment. Meets all mandated health requirements and complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies. Major Duties And Responsibilities The following duties are representative of performance expectations. Teach Heating & Air HVAC Technology classes, using real-world experience aligned with district curriculum and current industry practices. Create an engaging, hands-on learning environment where students build skills through lab work based learning and practical application. Track student progress, provide feedback, and keep basic records like grades and progress updates. Adjust teaching approach to meet different learning styles and help all students succeed. Help students set goals, explore career paths, and make good decisions about their future in HVAC and related fields. Build relationships with local businesses to support student learning, provide appropriate in-demand industry credentials, and job placement opportunities. Recognizes, supports, and if needed, communicates with appropriate staff when students need extra help with attendance, behavior, or personal challenges. Maintain professionalism, including respecting student confidentiality and following district guidelines. Represent the program well and help build strong connections with the community and industry partners. Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures. Promote a favorable image of the school district. Perform other specific job-related duties as directed. SALARY: Placement on certified salary chart based on field experience, education, and credentials.
