Jones College Position Announcement POSITION: HVAC Technician Assistant DIVISION: Physical Plant; reporting to Director of Physical Plant TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) months COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with education and experience. APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 25, 2026 JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of Physical Plant, the HVAC Technician will perform journeyman level work in planning, installing, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service, and repair of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in a manner supportive of the instructional goals of the College, as well as perform all duties according to state and local codes. Work will include monitoring and troubleshooting Siemens and Johnson Controls EMS. Major responsibilities and duties Ensure that HVAC operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the College. Maintain a continuous preventative maintenance schedule for all buildings and initiate action for the repair and maintenance of the equipment. Promote a comfortable indoor climate for learning and general office operations. Interpret and use blueprints and schematics. Stay up-to-date on federal and state laws and regulations concerning HVAC services. Provide regular reports as to the overall effectiveness of the HVAC systems on campus. Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments. Employ effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. HVAC tech will utilize the maintenance software work order system. HVAC tech to complete other work assigned by the Director. Job may require an occasional irregular working schedule, such as evenings and weekends to repair HVAC systems. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Drivers license EPA Refrigeration Handling Certification High School diploma or GED, and a certificate from college or technical school and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
