Job Description
A NYC hedgefund seeks a talented attorney to join its Legal & Compliance group and advise the firm in its ongoing adoption of AI across a wide range of functions. This role requires the ability to evaluate and mitigate risk in a collaborative and commercial manner within a sophisticated and fast-paced environment. AI adoption is a strategic firmwide goal, and this individual will be a key contributor to its success. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: Work closely with business development staff, investment professionals, and technologists to identify barriers to AI adoption and to implement solutions that accomplish the firm’s ambitious commercial aims while protecting it from undue legal and regulatory risk. Review and advise on AI-related requests across the firm, including new tool approvals, vendor assessments, data use questions, and integration of AI into existing workflows. Support the development and maintenance of the firm’s AI governance framework, including forward-looking work on emerging areas such as agentic AI. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR A law degree and five to seven years of experience as an attorney at a law firm, asset manager, and/or other financial services or fintech firm; at least two years of in-house experience in a product counsel or general legal advisory role is preferred. A commercial orientation, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to make risk-based decisions. AI advisory experience is preferred, but deep AI legal specialization is not required—more important is a genuine interest in AI and experience integrating AI into your work. Experience drafting policies and procedures, and establishing systems to help ensure compliance with them is preferred. Rigorous thinking with sound judgment, keen attention to detail, superb communication skills, proven project management abilities, and a collaborative mindset. The expected annual base salary for this position is $250,000 to $275,000
