Job Description
Biewer Wisconsin Sawmill is looking to add a full time Industrial Electrician to our team in Prentice, WI, where electrical expertise will directly impact the success of our fast paced operations. In this role, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and the repair of electrical systems. In this industrial setting, you will also read blueprints, troubleshoot complex controls and ensure compliance with all safety codes. Summary: Responsible for the installation, modification, maintenance, service and repair of electrical appliances, systems, and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, and written and verbal instructions. Industrial Electrician Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Install, maintain, repair and modify industrial electrical wiring, equipment, instrumentation in accordance with relevant codes and from blueprints, schematics and sketches. Complete preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot production equipment (motors, switches, starters, and control panel wiring) using electrical and mechanical aptitude. Observe all safety rules, policies, and precautions. Reports and corrects unsafe work conditions. Submit safety ideas to Safety Committee Members. Complete required safety and regulatory training. Diagnose repairs and offer recommendations for process flow improvements to industrial control systems, analog and digital applications. Work with outside contractors and vendors on electrical and maintenance projects. Set up and safely use tools and portable equipment such as electric drills, pipe cutters and threaders, pipe benders, and precision testing and measuring instruments. Communicate with maintenance team and management of any equipment that is not operating properly. Prepare reports for work progress and preventative maintenance documents for maintaining equipment. Follow established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and standard operation procedures. Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities. Industrial Electrician Basic Qualifications: Experience in heavy industrial environment and proficient computer skills. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with various industrial control circuits, and reading prints/schematics. Basic hydraulic and mechanical knowledge. Basic Electrical Theory/Circuits; De-energization/Lockout. Applications of Industrial Sensors – Infrared, Proximity, Limit Switches, etc. Basic use of PLC software utilization – Ladder Logic, Programming and Troubleshooting Control Logix (Allen Bradley). Electrical Control Systems – Energy Management and Electronic Controls. Networking basics (cable making, troubleshooting, camera systems). Equipment/asset monitoring (Oper8). Proficient with variable frequency drives (Allen-Bradley). Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Industrial Electrician Education, Experience, and Certifications: Two years of formal technical training in the principles of electricity and electrical design or five (5) years of experience in electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. State electrician licensure or certification desired. Work Environment: Industrial setting that includes but is not limited to frequent exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at manufacturing job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Able to work at high elevations. This safety-sensitive position requires employees to comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required drug and alcohol testing procedures. Physical Demands: Must be able to work in an indoor/outdoor environment Climb and descend a flight of stairs several times per day Walk, stand, or kneel for up to 12 hours Bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
